About Us...
Do you have amazing neighbors? As founders of the Hixon Caddy - we are blessed to say we do - the best. The Hixon Caddy was born out of that friendship and pure necessity.
As gardeners, maple syrup producers and avid canners we were always trying to figure out a better way to carry, store and access our canned goods. A couple of dropped jars will do that! We purchased some crates and boxes online and everything was cheap, stapled, glued or worse, puzzle-pieced together. Let me tell you, 12 - quart jars of maple syrup are HEAVY and we could not trust all that goodness to the flimsy options available. Also, we struggled with stacked/stored crates. Whenever you wanted something out of the bottom crate it was a lot of shuffling and re-stacking.
What we needed was...
- Something solid and heavy duty to handle our precious cargo.
- Something we could take out in the garden with us to harvest.
- Something that would securely stack and be accessible while stacked.
- Something that had heirloom qualities that would look great on display in the kitchen or even the living room.
- Something that we could use for seed starting, planting and harvesting.
